Alex Tan
Alex is a software engineer passionate about the intersection, and sometimes union, of computer science and mathematics. He completed two bachelor degrees in computer science and mathematics at the University of Sydney, and graduated with first class honours, the University Medal, and the Allan Bromley prize for the highest honours thesis mark. His honours thesis, completed under Dr. Clément Canonne in the Sydney Algorithms and Computing Theory (SACT) group, involved proving a novel upper bound on the expected generalisation error of a learning algorithm for halfspaces. He has also been a tutor and teaching assistant for a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate units in algorithms, optimisation, and mathematics at the University.
Alex enjoys hiking, camping, cycling, motorcycling, and travelling in general, preferably on at most two wheels.
