Since 2024, David Shteinman (ISG), together with engineering colleague James Oglethorpe, have been running free “Science Club” sessions at Randwick Library’s Maker Space in Sydney.
These fun, hands-on sessions give children aged 8–14 the chance to design and build their own STEM experiments under the guidance of David and James.
The activities cover an exciting mix of physics and chemistry experiments, including:
-
Creating giant soap bubbles to explore the science of surface tension
-
Suspending ping pong balls in mid-air to demonstrate aerodynamic lift
-
Levitating pencils with magnets to learn about magnetism
-
Using dry ice to simulate cloud formation
The Primary benefit of this program is to encourage students to regain contact with the physical world and its principles.
